Jamila Mahmoudi, the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s bodyguard, revealed another side of a ruler who was not ordinary. His peculiar traits, which some found strange, were a source of controversy and jest both during his life and after his death.
In one of her interviews, Jamila mentioned that Gaddafi fell in love with an Egyptian woman. For reasons she chose not to disclose, Gaddafi’s story with the daughter of a hero from the October War did not come to fruition. The same war contributed to the tension between Muammar Gaddafi and the late President Anwar Sadat, as Gaddafi had halted the aid he was sending to Egypt just before the October War.

Colonel Abdel Salam Khalaf Allah Al-Nadab, a former personal bodyguard, also revealed new secrets about Gaddafi’s life after his ousting. He indicated that Gaddafi attempted to exploit the incident of his son assaulting a Swiss maid to stir up anti-Swiss sentiments among Muslims, following Switzerland’s ban on minarets, as a cover-up for his son’s corruption.
The former bodyguard of Gaddafi stated, “I was dismissed from working with Gaddafi years ago when I was his personal bodyguard. Since then, my life path has changed, and I am no longer a military person.”
